Hospital wastewater is highly problematic in terms of hardly degradable pharmaceutical residues and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.  Combined biological and physical treatment with membrane filtration can greatly reduce bacteria and pharmaceutical residues in addition to the normal organic pollutants of municipal wastewater. The new plant treats up to 454 m³/day of wastewater.
