PFAS-free membrane production and ultrafiltration

PFAS are a group of industrial chemicals that are difficult to degrade. Due to poor biodegradation and the associated accumulation in soil, water and living organisms, they are also called eternity chemicals. These substances are suspected of being carcinogenic.

Our C-MEM ultrafiltration membrane is made of HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Compared to conventional ultrafiltration membranes, e.g. made of PVDF, this means that no PFAS waste water is produced during production and these substances cannot be separated from the material during operation.

The C-MEM membrane therefore meets the highest standards in production and applications in wastewater treatment, water recycling and drinking water treatment and would already not be affected by a proposed EU-wide PFAS ban in production.
