During his revisiting China SFCU´s C-MEM specialist Dr. Simon Jabornig among other things also participated in the international fair in Zhenjiang from September 26 – 28, 2017. The topic of this year´s event was “Low Carbon Technologies as Innovation”. Dr. Jabornig presented SFCU´s biological wastewater treatment technologies C-TECH and C-MEM MBR as well as SFCU´s drinking water treatment technologies C-MEM and C-MEM Zero.
The city of Zhenjiang was selected as location for the fair because it was one of the first pilot projects in China in which the concept “low-carbon city” was realised. As cities produce
ca. 70 % of all greenhouse gases, it was high time to take measures for reducing these emissions. The concept “low-carbon city” is based on the application of sustainable green and climate friendly technologies, which produce only a minimum of carbon and by this mitigate climate change.
So far, economic growth was inextricably linked with carbon emissions. Now, this concept offers an environmentally friendly chance to finally decouple the two.
