Worldwide, drinking water resources are declining and droughts are becoming more frequent, as can currently be seen in Portugal, Spain and Italy.

The innovative treatment technologies can also be used for wastewater recycling. In wastewater recycling, municipal or industrial wastewater is treated to such an extent that a large part of it can be reused, e.g. for irrigation. A recent report on ORF Salzburg presents one of these projects.
