Grey water recycling in households and businesses
Grey water is slightly contaminated water from showers, bathrooms and hand basins. The treatment and recycling of grey water is ideal for toilet flushing, cleaning and irrigation. Up to 50% of fresh water and wastewater requirements can be reduced. This not only reduces costs, but also helps to conserve our precious drinking water resources.
Grey water recycling with SFC technology
Together with the company Intewa in Aachen, SFC Umwelttechnik has developed a unique treatment and recycling system for grey water – AQUALOOP. The combination of biological purification (MBBR) and C-MEM™ membrane filtration produces high-quality grey water that meets the highest international quality and hygiene standards (NSF/ANSI 350 Type Commercial) with very low operating and maintenance costs.
The economic efficiency of grey water recycling is convincing.
In recent years, INTEWA and SFC have continuously developed and optimised grey water recycling technology. Depending on factors such as the water price, system size and possible heat recovery, our systems can now achieve extremely short amortisation periods. This makes grey water recycling systems one of the most economical technologies in the construction industry. An example calculation of a 10,800 litre/day system, taking into account typical water prices in Germany, illustrates this.
