With its new condensate treatment plant from SFC Umwelttechnik, Donausäge Enns is taking an important step toward sustainability and efficient resource use. The thermal utilization of biomass produces contaminated flue gas condensate, which cannot be discharged into the receiving water without treatment. The plant in Enns uses a combination of MBBR™ biology and C-MEM™ ultrafiltration to reliably solve this challenge. The biological reactor breaks down organic matter and nitrogen compounds, while two C-MEM modules with a total of 128 cartridges remove the finest particles and bacteria, ensuring particularly high filtrate quality. With a capacity of 192 m³ per day and a maximum inflow of 8 m³ per hour, the plant is tailor-made to the requirements of the site. The effluent values achieved are well below the usual limit values: COD, BOD, filterable substances, nitrogen and phosphorus parameters are reliably complied with. Since it went into operation in 2022, the plant has been helping to reduce wastewater costs, conserve water resources, and sustainably reduce the burden on the environment. It thus joins a growing number of modern reference plants with which SFC Umwelttechnik plays a leading role in the treatment of biomass condensates.
