The pilot tests concerning the removal of trace substances in the plant effluent by applying the innovative process combination ionOXess and C-MEM, which were successfully carried out by SFC Umwelttechnik GmbH at Bad Reichenhall WWTP (55,000 p.e.) in early summer, will now be continued in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich until the end of November.

The focus of the new tests will be on the capacity of the process combination regarding the removal of selected pharmaceuticals. Actually, scientific studies prove that even treated wastewaters of municipal wastewater treatment plants, especially the ones that also treat hospital wastewaters, still show too high concentrations of pharmaceutical residues.

From September 14 – 15 representatives of several Chinese companies and the organization ECED visited SFC Umwelttechnik GmbH for discussions on cooperation concerning wastewater treatment with C-MEM in China.

Effective June 1, 2015 the Chinese government had reduced the limit effluent values for various industrial wastewaters considerably and threatened to close all industrial companies that couldn´t reach the limit values prescribed by law now. With C-MEM this is possible, and therefore the negotiations on an upgrade with this technology will continue.
